We didn't think anybody would come close to the colossal sales of Nintendo's Wii this generation. But, as next-generation hardware looms on the horizon, Microsoft's Xbox 360 looks set to overtake its competitor as the UK's best-selling current-gen console.According to number-crunchers Chart-Track, the Xbox 360 has sold 8.4 million consoles to date in the UK, and is said to claim the best-selling title from Nintendo's Wii in a matter of days. The platform now regularly outsells PS3, Wii and Wii U on a weekly basis.
MCV added that the console is still 1.5 million units away from beating the UK's all-time best-selling console, the PlayStation 2. Sony's record holder has sold a stunning 10 million units in the UK since its launch in 2000. Do you think it could catch up?
Microsoft has a history of dropping last-gen platforms like a hot potato, but with the announcement of a new Xbox 360 design at E3, there are signs that the company might actually support the system as Xbox One launches.
