Don't bin your dreams of a Halo 2 Anniversary game just yet. Microsoft Game Studios exec Phil Spencer has suggested that discussions about such a project are active.
"I'll be open," Spencer said. "We have discussions about [Halo 2 Anniversary]. It's more about the right time and making sure that we really would do the right thing for the franchise.
"The Halo Anniversary that we did was as much about the launch of the first Xbox as well. It was a culmination of many things coming together. It would probably run out of steam if we were trying to think about, 'Okay, what's 10 years old now?'"
A Halo trailer was showcased at Microsoft's E3 press conference the other week, which made people question whether 343 is interested in making a revamped Halo 2 game at all. The discussions sound promising, but we can see where Spencer is coming from. On the other hand, Halo 2 did end up being one of the Xbox's best-loved games, with gamers playing online until the very last moment the servers were switched off several years ago.
