Hold on to your butts. Crackdown will be making a return on the Xbox One it seems, after Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer practically spilled the beans in a recent interview.
First off, the image of a Crackdown agility orb that could be seen at Xbox One's May 21 reveal event? "It wasn't accidental. Definitely," he told IGN, before revealing his love for the franchise and how Xbox One's cloud features could really help the open-world crime-buster.
"Oh... Crackdown is one of my favourite games, and not just because it's a Microsoft first-party game... No, I don't think Crackdown is dead at all. It's a franchise that's still close to me... For me, the natural progression for a game like Crackdown - and you see this showing up on our stage - is in these living, open worlds that live in the cloud."
The question now, is who will be developing the title? Crackdown 2 studio Ruffian Games has flat-out denied any involvement in a new Crackdown project, and franchise creators RealTimeWorlds is no more.
