Don't expect the next Legend of Zelda game to look hyper-realistic. It seems that Nintendo is done with that sort of thing. Instead, expect a brand new art style and loads of unique gameplay features thanks to the Wii U GamePad.Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma stated that his goal with the franchise is for "everything to be unique, whether it's the graphical presentation or the gameplay. It has to be something you can't see anywhere else." He's not interested in making a new
Zelda game look "ultra-realistic because you can see that elsewhere."
Aonuma didn't reveal exactly how the next
Zelda title will look, but ruled out the "cartoony-realistic" art style of past games. It'll be something "new", that we've never seen before. Sounds intriguing. The
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker stands as one of the most interesting-looking titles, despite getting criticised by fans at the time of its release for its cartoon aesthetic.
