Cripes, Sony's actually going ahead with it! The electronics giant has committed to a 2013 UK launch for the PlayStation 4, after taking out a full-page advert in today's Metro newspaper. The ad was snapped by Future's
James Jarvis, which features the DualShock 4 controller and the words "Coming 2013". It suggests that Sony is taking its upcoming next-gen battle with Microsoft very seriously, gunning for a worldwide launch by the end of this calendar year. Normally, UK and Europe gets shafted, seeing PlayStation platforms release weeks to months behind its US and Japanese launches.
"Now is the time," reads the ad, "The world's greatest players are going to entertain, create and amaze on the ultimate stage. This year a new generation will push boundaries of play and share in moments of wonder. This year players will become legends."
We contacted SCEE for official comment. Brilliantly, it had this to say, "We announced at the PlayStation Meeting event on Feb 20th that PS4 would be coming in 2013, the adverts are simply re-stating that message. More information about PS4 and all PlayStation platforms will be announced at E3."
'What, you didn't believe us? Have it.' That's the spirit we like to see, SCEE. We can't wait for E3 now.
