Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has claimed that Nintendo managed to shift 55,000 Wii U consoles in the US during April. That's a drop of 19 per cent on March sales, if official figures deem that to be correct. The Wedbush Morgan report, which forecasts upcoming NPD figures ahead of their official publication on Thursday, compares this number to that of other consoles. The Xbox 360 is expected to come out on top, selling 205,000 units, while the PS3 will follow with 165,000 units sold.
In something of a dire situation for Nintendo, even the Wii is expected to outsell its successor for the month, with 75,000 sales forecast. Nintendo said that it expects to sell nine million Wii U consoles in the year ending March 31, 2014 - so it's not off to a good start.
3DS, on the other hand, is apparently picking up, with 185,000 units predicted (a rise of 46 per cent year-on-year). Its closest competitor, the PS Vita, sold an estimated 30,000 units - a drop of 57 per cent.
