The PlayStation 4's Share functionality sounds like a lot of fun, right? Well, not completely - imagine if some utter nob decided to spoil the ending of Uncharted 5 with reckless abandon? The good news is, developers have the option to disable the Share feature during key moments in games to avoid that exact problem from happening.According to Sony's Worldwide Studios Boss, Shuhei Yoshida, "There will be parts of a game that the maker does not want people to be able to see. For example, on Vita, developers can in certain scenes disable the feature that lets users take a screenshot, and [the Share function] will have a similar mechanism.
"The creator may not want to make video of the final boss shareable, for instance."
PlayStation 4's controller will include a dedicated button, which will be used to share the last 15 minutes of a player's game footage with friends around the world. The console itself will be powered by Gaikai's cloud gaming functionality in order to achieve this. It's one major feature that's being touted as a 'killer app' over Microsoft's next Xbox system.
