It's Official - Call of Duty: Ghosts Announced
After a few retailers shooting Activision's load a little early, Call of Duty: Ghosts has been confirmed as Infinity Ward's next instalment in the series.

There's not a huge amount of information, but the big news is the new game engine that Infinity Ward's developed for the game. (The engine Tesco told us about a week ago). Ghosts, Activision tells us, "ushers in the next generation of the franchise".

Also promised is, "a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast of characters".

While that's characteristically vague, we do have a date for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions. They'll be with us on November 5th. The game will also be available on "next generation platforms", according to the announcement. There was no mention of the Wii U version that retailer listings have suggested is in the offing. It could be lumped in with "next generation platforms" at a stretch, but that's far from clear at this point.

Activision is promising "an exclusive first look" at the game as part of Microsoft's reveal of the new Xbox on May 21st (6pm GMT).

“Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we're not resting on our laurels,” said Mark Rubin, executive producer at Infinity Ward. “We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we're building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players. We can't wait to share them with our community."

We've got the teaser below.
