LulzSec, the rogue hacker group that threatened (and in some cases, succeeded) to launch cyber-attacks against a number of high-profile companies - including Nintendo, Sony, Bethesda, Mojang and CCP - continues to crumble in court as a fourth member of the organisation pleads guilty to charges laid against him.Ryan Ackroyd, 26, entered his guilty plea in London today. He will be sentenced on May 14 along with three other members of the group. His plea follows that of two colleagues, Ryan Cleary and Jake Davis, who also responded 'guilty' when charged with multiple counts of conspiracy related to website attacks.
Of course, the dominoes were set to fall after it was
reported last year that LulzSec's ringleader, Hector Xavier Monsegur, had been secretly working as an agent for the FBI and apparently ratted out his cohorts with the authorities.
Non-gaming institutions, such as the NHS, were also attacked by the group. Attacks were launched between February and September 2011, adjusting security settings and redirecting users to LulzSec websites while accessing confidential data.
