Lulzsec Goes for Eve Online, Escapist Magazine and Minecraft
For some reason, possibly to do with ego, a group or individual claiming to be LulzSec has decided to pick on some more games-related sites.

"Eve Online, Escapist Magazine and Minecraft are all down. We let Fin Fisher back up (30 minute temporary fire request completed!)"

Said a message last night.

Eve Online has issued a statement: "At 17:00 UTC today, CCP became aware of a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) against the EVE Online cluster and web servers.

"Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation. At 17:55 UTC, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while an exhaustive scan of our entire infrastructure was executed.

"While some may feel that such a drastic reaction was not warranted, it is always our approach to err on the side of caution in order to ensure the best possible service for our players and the security of their personal, billing and account information."

The full statement is here.

Meanwhile, Jacob Margolis of The Madeleine Brand Show has a brief interview with some English chaps who claim to be from LulzSec.

There is also this apparent 'Away message' from the organisation to listen to.

Wow. I wish I had the courage to attack innocent people from the safety of my bedroom, shrouded in anonimity.

I could run a piece of DDoS software that someone else sent me, type in an IP address that someone gave to me, hit the Run button and claim to have leet haxor skillz too.

I think that drowning in swimming pools filled with boiling acid would be a fairly subdued punishment for these oxygen thieves.
