Vlambeer Champions Sony as Luftrausers Announced for PS3, Vita
If Sony's goal heading towards the PlayStation 4's launch is to court independent developers, then it seems to be working. Netherlands-based Vlambeer has praised its past collaboration with the first-party as it announced that cult dogfighting game Luftrausers is hitting PS3 and Vita.

The studio is most recently known for its Ridiculous Fishing game, which has been making waves (sorry) on iOS this past week. Co-founder Rami Ismail listed Vlambeer's work with Sony to create PlayStation versions of Super Crate Box as the chief reason for its continued support of the PS3 and Vita.

"We'll be honest with you, the reason this game is going to hit PS3 and PS Vita is because we loved working with Sony when we made Super Crate Box," he said. "We think both platforms are great and we obviously want you to be able to play our games - but we don't like dealing with people that treat us as some sort of commercial asset only.

"We want to work with people that love games as much as we love working on them."

That certainly seems to be the impression that Sony wants to project. Its PlayStation 4 reveal event had a distinct "by gamers, for gamers" atmosphere, with development of the upcoming console chiefly led by Mark Cerny and Dave Perry - people who have had long-standing careers as game creators themselves.

Luftrausers is heading for a release in Spring. It will also see a release on PC, Mac and Linux.
