So, no Dead Island for the Wii U. Why do we all think that is? Speak up. What? "It's because Deep Silver won't make any money from a Wii U version of a zombie island game on the Wii U! They know it. You know it. We all know it. And Deep Silver really doesn't make anything else!" you say? Well you'd be wrong...At least you'd be wrong according to Deep Silver's Creative producer Alexander Toplansky. He's explained that it's more complicated than money...
He told
Digital Spy that "One of the opportunities we had for
Riptide was to continue the development of the engine, and really improve it and make a lot of refinements." Makes sense. Then again, which engine. The game is coming out on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
The original game was also out on those platforms. Let's let Mr Toplansky explain about this Wii U non-game.
"The things that are required to bring something to a new platform, you need to either really get to be integrating it deep into the engine, or you've got to [do] a port," that's true. You've either got to do a new version or port an old version to bring a game made on another platform to a new platform. Can't argue with that.
"Neither one of those was a satisfactory outcome for us," Erm? The outcome of bringing a game to a new platform is not a satisfactory outcome? We're getting lost. There must be something we're missing...
"...we decided to do what we got platform-wise and just make sure that we can deliver the best experience we can." Totally lost here. Because the PS3, Xbox 360 or PC versions didn't work on the Wii U, there is no Wii U version?
Sounds like twaddle to us. What do you reckon?
