Following Sony's PS4 reveal on Wednesday, Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida took to the PlayStation Blog to confirm some design details in the redesigned DualShock controller. Namely, that the triggers have been curved this time around, and that every PS4 will come with a headset. It might all be seen as Sony playing catch up to Microsoft's Xbox 360 controller, but we can't really complain if it means that the PlayStation company is listening to consumer feedback. The lack of a headset with the PS3 in particular was pretty crippling, with online experiences hampered by the use of way too many EyeToy cameras.
Yoshida confirmed that the analogue sticks have been fine-tuned for "better precision", while the lightbar on the front of the DualShock 4 has been confirmed to take advantage of motion control in a similar fashion to the PlayStation Move (which is also supported on the PS4) using a new camera bar. The camera itself can track positions in three dimensions, and also contains four microphones for "accurate sound detection and source origination."
The 'Share' button was also described, as well as a new 'Options' button which "combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3’s “Select” and “Start” buttons for operating in-game menus."
