Graphics card demigod nVidia has today announced the best earnings in the company’s history, with revenue rising to $499.9 million this fiscal year, from $218.2 million in year on year comparison.

“2001 was a defining year for nVIDIA," stated Jen-Hsun Huang, President and CEO of nVIDIA. "Our technology leadership was exemplified by industry firsts in every market we serve, giving us excellent results in each of our businesses. This is a tribute to our employees’ focus and relentless execution and the strength of the nVIDIA business model."

Hugely boosted by Microsft’s Xbox production, nVidia has shouldered the costly research and development of its latest PC card, the GeForce 4 which was released last week.

In fact, Microsoft accounted for a whopping 17% of nVidia’s total fourth quarter sales, in business that was worth $85 million.
