Xbox Live Rewards Birthday Gift is 20 Microsoft Points
Microsoft recently announced a fresh Xbox Live Rewards scheme, which involved discounts in exchange for Gamerscores and a mysterious 'special gift' when a gamer approaches their birthday. Today, we know exactly what that special gift is. 20 Microsoft Points.

That's about 17p. Or in US money, 25 cents. Hey, if it's good enough for Gil, it's good enough for you!

NeoGAF has posted an email from Microsoft regarding the birthday treat: "Happy Birthday Month," the email jubilantly declares. "Congratulations! This month you'll be a year wiser. But what's a birthday without a sweet surprise? Try this: Enjoy 20 Microsoft Points as our gift to you.

"Use it toward anything you wish in the Xbox Live Marketplace. Your birthday Microsoft Points will be automatically deposited into your Xbox Live account by the 15th of the month."

Don't spend it all at once, now.

It does sound miserly, but it depends on the number of users on XBL and the number Microsoft expect to redeem the 20 points. If it's several million users, then that's still a lot of dosh at market value. Some might say that it's still a drop in the ocean for M$ :-P

I don't think there even is anything for 20 points, I'd care less if I got those 20 points or not. That's like a gamer picture set every 4 years. >.< The 2% off is nice though since I'm always buying DLC.

Disappointing. I would think a choice of one special avatar item, from a list only available to people who signed up to the rewards program would be better. A birthday hat, a cake, an xbox live rewards t-shirt and a couple more.

But I don't work for microsoft unfortunately, so 20msp it is.

I didn't even get the 20msp (november birthday) and I've been a member since they started it as far as I can tell. Nor did I get my halo 4 unlocks and I bought and played it day 1 release. Not a big deal but if they're gonna give you stuff for this type if thing they should back it up and actually do it.

it's dumb though that a person that's tier 3 get 20 points just like someone in teir 1. only difference is the 2% rebate and it's not like it's really costing them money to give out a few extra free points.
