It's Official! Sony's New PS3 Wii U Spoiler

Sony is not going to let Nintendo launch its Wii U this Holiday Season without some form of fight. The form - launched at the Tokyo Game Show this morning - is small and takes the form of a smaller PS3 in two forms.
Basic details are:
The two models of PS3, "featuring a new design and a downsized form factor, will become available in the UK on September 28th and October 12th. The new PS3 will come in two models, a 500GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) version (launching September 28th), and a newly added 12GB flash memory model (launching October 12th)."
Importantly in the battle for wallets against Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360: "the new PS3 with 12GB flash memory offers opportunities to experience the world of PlayStation at an affordable price point."
Those RRPs for Europe are:
Black 12GB = €230
Black 500GB = €300
The rest of the world breaks down as:
Japan (launching October 4th)
Classic White 250GB = ¥24,980
Charcoal Black 250GB = ¥24,980
Charcoal Black 500GB = ¥29,980
The Americas
Black 250GB = $270 (launching September 25th)
Black 500GB = $300 (launch October 30th)

Love how the GAME advert for the Wii-U appears on this page (how much did that cost)!
Nintendo should have been ready for this - but the failure of their launch announcement and the arrogant interviews and media direction has only led to their continued miss-message.
However, I am not a Nintendo-Hater - so I have no disillusion to the reality that Nintendo has a loyal crowd that will ensure that they can salvage whatever situation. This new release from Sony will hurt in the West however. I expect a total restructuring of the executive structure at Nintendo after the full launch to address the online future, and clear the dead wood that has become far too complacent.

My Fat PS3 died a month ago and I was thinking about waiting on this ultra slimeline model because I heard it was gonna be pretty cheap. I'm glad I didnt wait cause I ended up buying a 250Gb Reg Slimline model from Shopto for £205 with Sleeping Dogs.
The 12Gb model is too expensive, should be around £150.

Yeah....i dont think sooo, maybe last year. WIIU is 2012 and blackops2 playing @ 1080p, 60 frames. Good look with that super duper powerhouse slim and its 512mb of mem. Oh snap LOL

Wow £230? You can get the basic Wii U for £229.99. Doesnt even pose a challenge to the Wii U IMO, get the same system with a new skin at a staggering price considering how long the systems been on the market, or get a brand new system with great innovations for cheaper? Hmmm I wonder which one I'll choose....
