Nintendo in Japan has pre-empted today's European and UK release details for the Wii U with its information that the new console and controller will launch in its home territory on December 8th this year in two price forms due to two bundle deals.

The Wii U bundles (both of which come with HDMI cables): Basic and Premium. The former includes a GamePad controller, a white base unit and an 8Gb hard disk. The Premium is black and has 32Gb of storage plus "Nintendo Network Premium" deal that rewards software purchasers with points, as well as giving 10% off actual purchases until December 14th 2014.

In terms of price: The Basic costs ¥26,250 which equates to £210 (or €260). The Premium deal costs ¥31,500 (as of today, £250 or €310.

Peripherals include the Xbox 360-like "Pro Controller", a Wii Mote and a Nunchuk.

The UK press conference will happen at 3pm this afternoon where price and release date are expected to be announced.
