Yesterday, US Gawker site Kotaku ran a story based on a tweet (now deleted) purporting to come from the Anonymous hacking group that claimed the PlayStation Network had been hacked again.Kotaku
reported the group's claim that it, " has a 50 gigabyte database of email accounts and their passwords. Ten million accounts "are at risk," says the hacker involved. The passwords appear to be encrypted, and many of the accounts published in this document appear to be from northern Europe." It also advised that, "This still would be a great time to double-check your password security." Sony had other thoughts on the matter.
Using its official channel, it tweeted, "We can confirm that the recent claim that PSN was illegally hacked & that customer PWs and email addresses were accessed is completely false"
No equivocation there at all.
