Ever wanted to go to school and learn all about games and their production? Well, one day, you might just do that! The Arts Institute in San Francisco has announced that classes have begun for its Game Art and Design Bachelor’s Degree program, a series of specialised classes that teach the fundamentals of game production.

"The game industry continues to demand artists and designers who can combine their passion for games with their artistic and technical talents," said Jason Della Rocca, Program Director for the International Game Developers Association. "This program offers an exciting and relevant curriculum that will help prepare students for entry-level positions in this rewarding and challenging field."

The student body will be mastering art fundamentals, 3D modelling, animation, texturing, scripting and other aspects of game level design. Courses include Storytelling, 3D Character Animation, 3D Modelling, Life Drawing, Interface Design for Games and Interactive Game Prototyping. Not a bad way to spend two years we’re sure you will agree!

“I’m a gamer and love games, so I’m very excited to be part of this program,” said David Yost, a new student who moved to San Francisco to start the program. “I really like how well-rounded this curriculum is and how it incorporates the fundamentals of art, game design and general education.”

"I really enjoy teaching students with a passion for games, animation, 3D and characters," said Joseph "Jerril" Yoo, a Character Technical Director at LucasArts, based in San Rafael, California, and an instructor at The Art Institutes International at San Francisco. "In my classes in 3D character animation and 3D character modelling, we're exploring some of the elements commonly used today in the game development and animation fields."
