Fresh data has been published for the PlayStation Vita's first six months on sale in Japan. Is it looking pretty? Well, take a look for yourself - less than 800,000 units have been sold since the system's launch. 790,633 units, to be exact.Sony Japan representatives have apparently told Famitsu, which published the figures, that the hardware numbers match the company's expectations and initial projections. Although they could just be putting on a brave face - the platform hasn't exactly sold like hotcakes since its launch in December, being outsold in many weeks by its predecessor, the PSP.
There is some light at the end of the tunnel, though. The release of a new system colour and the popularity of
Persona 4 The Golden has boosted sales somewhat in the last couple of weeks, and Sony is hoping that it can maintain the momentum with
Hatsune Miku Project Diva f in August, as well as other announcements in September's Tokyo Game Show.
Let's hope one of those games coming soon is a new Monster Hunter. Lord knows Sony needs one of those right now.
Famitsu's data also includes the top ten best selling games on the Vita since launch. The fact that
Persona 4 The Golden is sat at the top of the list, despite being on sale for such a short period of time, is quite telling.
