We reported earlier that Sony could well be moving into cloud gaming, with an integration of OnLive or Gaikai reported to be happening on a range of Sony hardware soon. But, it's now possible that the PlayStation company is close to actually acquiring "a high profile cloud gaming firm" for that same purpose.MCV reports that "that the deal is far more extensive than anyone could have predicted and will see Sony fully acquire one of the two firms [OnLive or Gaikai]", suggesting that the service could hit PlayStation consoles as well as televisions. The deal is close to being signed.
Any such formal announcement on the matter is likely to be made during Sony's E3 press conference next week. As it happens, naturally, the company isn't saying anything right now.
