Gran Turismo 4 details confirmed by Sony for the first time!

Sony Computer Entertainment recently held an event in Hong Kong entitled Hong Kong PlayStation 2 Expo to celebrate the launch of its best-selling game console in the region, at which it revealed some scintillating details about the next game in the Gran Turismo series.
At this point in time, Polyphony digital is working to a release date of mid 2003 for the project, known as Gran Turismo 4.
It will feature many new tracks, including a China stage and track through the streets of Hong Kong. It was also revealed that the game will have a complete variable weather system as well as optional real-time daytime effects, something sorely missing form GT3.
Sony stated that the next game in the series will be a stand-alone game, not an on-line add-on to its predecessor, heightening rumours that GT4 could be a PlayStation 3 launch title. Massive on-line functionality will make up a major portion of the game.
