Martyn Gibbs - the man who was managing director at the fan-favourite retail outlet GameStation before its purchase by the GAME Group in 2009 - is to take up the reigns of CEO of the reborn GAME under its new OpCapita overlords.
“I am delighted to be leading GAME back to success. Our immediate priority is to help the GAME and gamestation teams, so they can give our customers a great Easter in our stores and websites,” said Gibbs according to MCV.
Gibbs was Managing Director at Gamestation from 2007 until 2009 when the chain was acquired in a deal that even then was thought questionable in terms of consumer choice and corporate over-extension - by the GAME Group. He rose to the position of MD of the group until August last year when he left.
His return to the resurrected company will, many people hope, also see a return to the sort of expertise and love for games that saw GameStations of old so widely appreciated.
