Xbox 360 Entertainment Apps Beat Multiplayer Gaming
In news that should shock absolutely nobody, Microsoft has announced that more people spend more time using music and TV applications on the Xbox 360 than they do playing multiplayer games on Xbox Live. It probably has nothing to do with the arrangement of the new dashboard. Nope.

According to the stats released by the console manufacturer, US Xbox Live Gold subscribers are spending an average of 84 hours a month on the online service, with a global increase of 30 per cent. Entertainment apps usage has doubled year on year, and although no specific numbers were offered, Microsoft said that the increase has allowed entertainment usage to surpass that of online multiplayer gaming.

The news follows announcement of new Comcast and HBO Go apps for the platform today.

I'd love to see how that works out between countries. I'm sure the US makes up most of that. With their apps I'm pretty sure I could just cancel my Sky contract and go online only.

I guess also adds weight to an Xbox Lite coming akin to Apple TV. I don't know what the price would be but since I can get a 4gb 360 for £100 a Lite model would have to be very cheap. £50?

How "charitable" of Microsoft... to let their lowly Silver subscribers access their Netflix and Hulu accounts without having to gouged an extra added surcharge for the privilege!
