Game Group Turns to Streaming Games to Staunch Wounds
The Game Group (which also owns GameStation and the defunct GamePlay) and has been going through the commercial ringer of late, has signed up to stream Gaikai titles.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, this is something that Gaikai encourages. The idea for GAME, however, is to change its strategy and garner support following its store closures and the fact that EA has pulled sales of Mass Effect 3 from the group. This loss is estimated to cost GAME some £2million.

The streaming service, which will be made available via GAME's website will be made available shortly ("in Spring"). CEO Ian Shepherd states that, "Gaikai's ground-breaking game streaming technology fits in well with our strategy of delivering the very best range of games and gaming products to our customers."

The trick is for GAME to make money from this service though. So, Mr Shepherd points out that, “We are thrilled to offer our consumers the ability to instantly preview game titles right at that critical moment of the purchase decision making and checkout process.”

For its part, Gaikai (via executive VP Robert Stevenson) is, "extremely pleased to be working with GAME across Europe to help them expand their digital presence and engagement with online consumers by streaming Gaikai’s portfolio of high quality content."

Let's hope for the staff at GAME that this helps.
