We've all been waiting for them, now they are here: the sales figures for the Sony PlayStation Vita portable that went on sale in Japan on December17th 2011 and in the rest of the world on February 22nd 2012. It's sold 1.2 million units worldwide.Well, according to Sony it's sold "over 1.2 million units worldwide as of February 26, 2012". Of course, the figure is not broken down by territory but what the company is saying is that "sales have exceeded expectations".
It also took a few words to have a stab at the Nintendo 3DS (with no much reading between the lines required), saying that, "firmly establishing PS Vita as the must-have portable entertainment device across the world..."
We've checked over some figures and you might like to know that, without any editorialising, of that 1.2m figure Japan was at total 578,812 for the week commencing 13th Feb.
