Tekken 3D is the first time the fighting series has been seen on a Nintendo platform since the 2001 Tekken Advance. So what convinced Namco producer Katsuhiro Harada to develop for the 3DS? Super Smash Bros.
In a new Iwata Asks interview on Nintendo's website, Harada recalled a time when he witnessed a variety of different gamers playing at the US Major League Gaming tournament. "Super Smash Bros. had everyone from adults to kids, even women so I thought they would be all playing cheerfully together.
"But there were these deafening cheers coming from them playing tournaments, like 'Auuugghhh!' I saw that and I was convinced that participants feel the same things while they play Super Smash Bros. and Tekken."
Tekken 3D Prime Edition arrives on 17th February.
