Source States that 'Microsoft Points' to Die this Year
It's the dawning of news that many drunk people with an Xbox Live account have long needed, and that you sober and sensible reader have long expected: the death of the Microsoft Point.

Well, it is if you believe the InsideMobileApps site that states, "Microsoft’s proprietary virtual currency system, Microsoft Points, will be phased out by the end of the year, according to a source with knowledge of the company’s decision. The change will affect developers for Windows Phone, the Zune marketplace and Xbox Live."

Let's hope for the sake of all those impulsive (aka drunk, late night) Xbox Live avatar hat purchasers who really can't work out that 800 Microsoft Points is actually £10.
