Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, has let it be known that Sony intends to stay on course for 15million PS3 sales by March 31st 2012 - the end if the company's fiscal year. According to its latest stats (pictured) it has sold 5.5million.This compares to 5.9m sold in the same period in the previous year (which saw full year sales of 14.3million) according to its own
officially released figures. Bear in mind that Sony has only declared sales figures to the end of September 2011. The figures for the third and most important quarter (October, November and December) are not in.
Given the figures officially available however, it seems a little strange, that, according to Reuters, House, "told reporters on Thursday that PS3 sales were, if anything, slightly ahead of target."
What he didn't tell reporters, however, was anything about projected sales or sales targets for the PS Vita, which launches in February 2012. He did mention that, "the speed at which Sony could turn Vita hardware sales profitable would depend on currency rates. Sony has been hard hit by the yen's rise against the euro."
