The PlayStation Vita is looking like the Sony handheld that can do it all. Two touch interfaces, 3G capability, twin analogue sticks... it even has a decent launch lineup. One thing it won't be able to do, however, is play downloaded PSOne and other Game Archive titles. At least, not at launch.Siliconera is citing a report in Japanese magazine Famitsu that states that PSOne Classics and TurboGrafx-16 (collectively known as Game Archive titles) will not be supported when Vita goes on sale on 17th December. An official
PlayStation Vita FAQ supports this.
The reason behind the move hasn't been disclosed, but it seems that the restriction will be temporary. Sony Computer Entertainment America's FAQ states that the device will be able to play PSOne Classics, but it's not clear whether that will be from the country's 22nd February 2012 launch or at a later date.
