This appears to be a regular issue: a game comes out and sells millions and zillions. People report disc read errors on Xbox 360. BBC's Watch Dog looks into it.. This time it's Modern Warfare 3. Thankfully Watch Dog hasn't got there yet though.Microsoft's own Xbox Forum is, however, getting a hammering over the disc read errors from users saying things such as:
"I am severely disappointed, and have to sit back and watch TV while all of my friends play a game i played 110$ for. Congratulations to you for making me look like an idiot for defending your game. but im refusing to settle with "it must be your xbox" i don't have another 100$ to spend. So if microsoft or Activision or anyone affiliated with these two companies could kindly point them in my direction or that of this thread so we can get a fix and go back to playing video games."
And...
"i made a discovery! after playing MW2 for like 30mins my disc drive got heated up i guess and when i put mw3 in it worked just fine no problems and before mw3 didnt work at all but it did get better as i kept trying and same with you guys with the down load, as you try and try again the download gets farther and farther i think because as the disc is spinning its heating up and once it gets enought heat mw3 works fine. i guess u should all try this if u already havent."
Exactly why folks are complaining to Microsoft and not Activision or more specifically the retailer who sold them the game is... well... not a surprise really.
