Bleszinski Believes There's Still Life in the Xbox 360
Cliff Bleszinski, creative director at Epic Games, believes the Xbox 360 still has plenty of life left, so long as developers attempt some more creative programming.

This is indeed interesting timing given that the Xbox 360 is about to hit six years old, and for consoles that is usually the moment that the successor is named. In fact it is already rumoured with that the next generation of Microsoft's console will be called 'Xbox Ten'.

Mr "B"-leszinski, in an interview with EDGE, has a lot to say in support of the current machine.

"With creative programming you can squeeze anything out of any given platform... We're kind of at that point where in the SNES [days] they started using Mode 7 in ways you never expected." Bleszinski explains.

"It's just a matter of code magic, time and effort. I don't know how much longer the 360 will be around, but I'm sure that if we have a product coming out before the end of [its] lifecycle we'll continue to try and squeeze more water from that stone...

"We're now at at the point where it's not learning how to use the hardware, it's learning to trick the hardware into doing what you want it to do."

If what Mr B says is true, then it would appear his team is focused on maximising the full potential of the current console before its inevitable successor comes along. For the rest of us all we can hope for is that when the 360 finally does eventually go, it'll go with a little dignity, and not become a brothel of casual tripe that can also befit a dying icon.
