"No Prestige Edition" of Modern Warfare 3

Go Hardened or Go Home

PUT THE BOBBLEHEAD DOWN
No need to get on the phone to the bank manager if you want to get your hands on a Prestige Edition of the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 – according to Robert Bowling from Infinty Ward, Activision isn't going to bother making one.

In what actually comes across as a reasonably sensible idea the most expensive version of MW3 will be the Hardened Edition that we covered here. In a statement on his Twitter, Bowling said "There is no Prestige Edition, only a Hardened Edition for #MW3." No remote controlled cars. No night vision goggles. Just the game, a couple of bits of DLC and a year's subscription to the Call ofDuty Elite service.

What does this mean for future releases of big games? Are the days of ridiculously overpackaged lunchboxes filled with bobbleheads and pretend guns over? Of course they're bloody not, but it's interesting to see Activision taking an almost grown-up approach to what will inevitably be their biggest release of the year.

I reckon they want as many on the Elite bandwagon as possible, and by making the elite pack the best pack out there they are covering most potential buyers. once everyone has elite modern warfare 4 will start selling us plastic covert weapons again..
