It’s a bit of a slow week in the Japanese Video Game Software Chart (courtesy Media Create, week ending 4th September 2011) this week, as the run up to the Tokyo Game Show gives many consumers pause. It has allowed new release Grand Knights History to sneak in to the top of the chart with nearly 65,000 copies sold.1 Grand Knights History – Marvelous Entertainment (PSP) – 64,630 / NEW
2 Monster Hunter Portable 3rd - HD Version – Capcom (PS3) – 52,792
3 Rhythm Heaven for Everyone – Nintendo (Wii) – 22,762
4 Sengoku Musou 3 Empires – Tecmo Koei (PS3) – 21,604
5 Devil Survivor Overclock – Atlus (3DS) – 20,809 / NEW
6 Atsumete! Kirby – Nintendo (DS) – 15,804
7 Corpse Party: Book of Shadows – 5pb. (PSP) – 15,249 / NEW
8 Mobile Suit Gundam: New Gihren’s Ambition – Namco Bandai (PSP) – 14,656
9 Monster Hunter Diary: Poke Poke Airu Village – Capcom (PSP) – 12,924
10 Dynasty Warriors 6 Special – Tecmo Koei (PSP) – 12,209
Devil Survivor Overclock performs well as it debuts at #5 with over 20,000 units sold, while the only other new entry to chart is
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. It debuts at #7. The rest of the Top 10 is commanded by last week’s big-hitters -
Mobile Suit Gundam, the
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Remaster and
Sengoku Musou 3 Empires.
We reckon things are going to heat up an awful lot next week, with the news that Namco Bandai’s highly-anticipated RPG
Tales of Xillia has
crossed the 500,000 shipments mark, just a day after going on sale. It is going to absolutely destroy the charts. Mark our words.
In hardware, things are pretty level from last week. A medium-sized drop for the 3DS here, a tiny lift for the PS3 there... otherwise it’s just as we left it really. Take a look at the full numbers below - last week’s sales are in parentheses.
