Lock your doors, barricade your windows and find your nearest trough of salt - an alleged 'Nintendo insider' has fired up a damaging rumour about the Wii U, stating the console is facing "development hell."Prototypes of the new machine were available to play at E3 this year, but according to the anonymous tipster "it seems that the final architecture has been rushed through the door, with undesirable consequences."
The controller was highlighted as a major issue, with developers rumoured to be using a tethered controller that "does not work properly" due to "inadequate" streaming capabilities. "Many developers are feeling lost, their progress impeded by a distinct lack of visibility, their working hours by the quasi-paced daily software updates," reads the report on
01.net.
Things get flimsy when the tipster talks about the scheduling of the console - despite there being no release date for the Wii U, it will apparently see a 'delay' of a couple of months. Developers are said to believe that Nintendo would launch the Wii U in June 2012 - which is a little bit stupid, if you want our opinion. A 'delay' would also negate the allegations of Nintendo "rushing" the tech out of the door. Always nice to have rumours that contradict themselves.
Anyway, we've put in a call to Nintendo for comment. We'll let you know if they get back to us with the usual 'no comment' spiel. Because hey, we're nice like that.
