Either Activision/Blizzard is unsure what 'integral' means or its really going to come a cropper with Diablo III. Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, has announced that the controversial Auction House which enables gamers to use real money to buy and sell virtual items is going to be integral to the game you see. Speaking at an analyst's Q&A after releasing its second quarter financials, Mr Morhaime told the phone-in crowd:
"Okay. Well, what I would say is that
Diablo III, at least in the West, is primarily going to operate off of a standard box revenue model, with a box and expansions to follow.
"The Auction House is really a big unknown for us. We really don't have any predictions on how popular it will be, although we do expect it to be a pretty integral part of the game. And we also expect it to drive engagement and longevity in the life of
Diablo III."
