Midway withdraws all support from coin-op gaming: State of global arcade gaming update inside
Arcade stalwart Midway has quietly withdrawn all support from its coin-op division, just six months after it announced that it will no longer be manufacturing arcade games.

The parts and service divisions across the world have been scaled down to core operational level, meaning that as soon as the last of the warranties has expired, Midway will be unable to offer support or back-up parts.

In a diminishing arcade market this is the latest in a string of bad news. Rest assured however, that it isn’t all bad.

Capcom has recently set up a Korean-based arcade subsidiary with the brief to get the most out of online arcade gaming in the future. Sega has finished work on its awesome looking Naomi 2 board and Namco is busy writing games for its System 264 arcade standard.

Microsoft recently announced that it will be developing new arcade hardware with Sega based on the Xbox innards and even the humble Neo Geo MVS has two more releases up its sleeve: King of Fighters 2001 and Metal Slug 4, so it's not all bad is it?
