Speculation of pre-owned fight.

Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D Blocks Data Reset
Reports suggest that Capcom's Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will come with a feature that makes it impossible to reset stored game data.

Tiny Cartridge initially published pictures from the 3DS title's manual that states "saved data on this software cannot be reset," leading the publication to speculate that this may be a way of combating the apparently controversial pre-owned market.

Of course, it all depends on just where said game data is stored. If it is indeed on the cartridge itself, then this could well set a precedent for a new method of stopping second hand sales. On the other hand, should the data be stored on the 3DS itself or an installed SD card, there could be alternative reasons for the block.

We've asked Capcom for comment. In the meantime, what do you think, readers?

I don't like it - that's what I think.

When I'm playing a game, the save data - as far as I'm concerned - is "mine", since I generated that data. It should be up to me what I do with that data, whether that's copying it, sharing it, or deleting it.

if true then this calls for a boycott.
