While some confusion still reigns regarding the exact nature of the Wii U, one thing is clear according to Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata. It will replace the Wii.Mr Iwata explained in an E3 interview, “It is inconceivable that Nintendo is going to cease to produce the Wii once the Wii U hits the market", which seems straightforward enough. Both Wii and Wii U will exist together then.
Not really. Mr Iwata continued, ”The Wii U will replace the Wii in time, but it takes time.”
So, the Wii U is the Wii replacement after all.
Or maybe not.
We can't remember last time we heard such confused messaging from a major platform holder. Can you?
