Sony NGP: Not as Powerful as PS3
The Sony Next Gen Portable (aka PSP2) has been sweeping along in its pre-birth phase with cries of "It's as powerful as the PS3!"... except, it's not.

David Coombes, platform research manager at Sony Computer Entertainment America has pointed out that:

"Some people in the press have said 'Wow, this thing could be as powerful as a PS3.'

"Well, it's not going to run at 2 GHz because the battery would last five minutes... and it would probably set fire to your pants."

He said, "Pants".

Even if it did run at 2GHz it wouldn't be as powerful as a PS3. Clock speed isn't the only factor in a system's power.

@irritant Wah? Next you'll be telling us that MIPS, MFLOPS, fill rates and millions of triangles per second are all irrelevant too!

I know, it's shocking, isn't it? Who'd have thought marketing people will say anything, regardless of the facts, to sell their stuff.

Next it'll turn out that NGP is just a temporary name used to make it sound like the PSP2 is in a generation beyond the 3DS.
