Sony Begins PS3 User Bans

They've figured out the PSN workaround too.

Sony Begins PS3 User Bans
It has begun. According to reports on various "homebrew" gaming forums, certain PlayStation 3 users are starting to see their access to the PlayStation Network snatched away from them.

These are legitimate bans from Sony, and are occurring for those who are trying to bypass the PSN login system. Which means the affected parties have been taking advantage of piracy methods initially published by George Hotz and the fail0verflow team.

It was possible to access the PlayStation Network with a jailbroken PS3 without Sony noticing by forging a phony login certificate and rerouting the console's DNS settings. Seems Sony's sussed that one out, and now the culprits are getting error messages that read, "You cannot use the PlayStation Network with this account (8002a227)."

Following an official statement last night on the PlayStation.Blog, this is the first time Sony has actively responded to users taking advantage of piracy.

I'd imagine it'll ban any PSN account used on a console that has been modified/hacked.

Although this would be harsh on anyone using a friends PS3 with their own account!

oh boo hoo my heart bleeds for people using their account on a cheating friends PS3. That must affect at least 0% of the community.

Yeah okay I know it's not likely and the chance that someone would use a friends console without knowing it's hacked is very slim! I was just saying.

I'm only guessing this is what they are doing, I don't know if there is anyone out that has actually had their account(s) blocked, that would care to clarify?
