Sony's quest for total legal domination over the cads that broke open its PS3 security mechanism has hit a snag - a US District Judge has denied the company the right to subpoena social networking sites and forums for the hackers' identities.
Sony planned to force YouTube, Twitter, Slashdot, PayPal and a number of hacking and PlayStation-related websites to give up details on the remaining defendants of its legal assault against the homebrewers. At the moment, the face spearheading the defence is hacker George Hotz.
But the Honorable Susan Illston rejected the subpoena request, and so that knackers the company's legal plans a bit. A hearing is still to be made today regarding the Temporary Restraining Order on Hotz later today.
