Placeholder listing hints at backwards compatibility.

PS2 Game Discovered on PlayStation Network
Keen-eyed PlayStation Network users discovered an entry for the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City game on the service's online store this weekend, suggesting that PS2 titles might soon become available for PS3 and PSP users.

The Rockstar classic was listed as a free downloadable underneath the PSP prequel, Vice City Stories. Various assets were missing from the entry, including summaries and thumbnail images. Successfully downloading the file won't lead you to PS2 heaven either - according to TheSixthAxis, when "the game boots it boots as 'stories'" - whether that means Vice City Stories or not is uncertain.

Obviously, the title was not supposed to be there and was intended as a placeholder - the entry has been removed as of this morning. Could Sony be finally working to allow for PS2 compatibility?

If you have a good enough PC, PS2 emulators are already here.

I found this on PSN. It's Vice City Stories. You need a PS3 to download it, and then use the USB cable to transfer it to a PSP Go.

It's not a PS2 game or the original Vice City... it's just the PSP game that's already been released... shouldn't be free, anyway. Someone should tell Sony and Rockstar
