Details have emerged regarding the successor to the PSP with the PSP2 - aside from release date, there is now some potentially mind-blowing news about its capabilities.According to MCV, "Sony has told licensees the device, ‘is as powerful as the PlayStation 3’".
The electronics manufacturer is due to offer its challenger to the 3DS in the period of good cheer, suggesting that they are not out of the portable console race just yet. The first official announcement for the device is due to be given on January 27th.
PSP2 will carry an HD screen and twin-stick controls. A list of games and launch details have already been sent out to publishers, endeavouring to differentiate itself from the Apple and Android set of mobile phones. It will also maintain a format that will keep retail connected to the portable's life cycle through physical software sales.
Sony is touting the portable device to be as powerful as its current console, the Playstation 3.
The announcement is rumoured to be hot on the heels of the Nintendo 3DS, due to be launched around Easter time.
Extra reveals of the handheld and its titles will be shown at this year's GDC and E3. Excited at the announcement of the PSP2?
