Interest in Kinect is now intergalactic - NASA's researchers are considering purchasing several of them as a means to provide a cost-effective teleconference and 3D data sharing solution.
The institute will achieve this with the help of some software developed at UC Davis, in order to create a means of staging 3D video meetings. It follows a flurry of activity in the business and graduate sectors, where engineers have recently enabled motion-sensing to PC games like World of Warcraft.
Although Microsoft has publicly stated that it isn't very pleased with people opening up the motion sensing peripheral and writing hacks and alternative software for it, it is this experimentation by universities and homebrewers alike that has attracted NASA's attention.
