NPD Figures Show Black Ops Riding High
The latest in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops, has reached the number 1 spot in the best-selling titles throughout the US within three weeks of release.

Recent NPD data shows that Treyarch's recent take on the franchise has shifted a total of 8.4 million copies over November and accounted for 25% of total software sales for the period.

You can check the US November top 10 games chart here:

1 - Call of Duty: Black Ops
2 - Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
3 - Just Dance 2
4 - Madden NFL 11
5 - Fable III
6 - Donkey Kong Country Returns
7 - Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
8 - Gran Turismo 5
9 - NBA 2K11
10 - Wii Fit Plus

Hardware sales over the period show that Microsoft was out in front with a 68% increase over the same period in November 2009. It did take second place to Nintendo's ever-strong console, the DS:

1. Nintendo DS: 1.5 Million (-11.8%)
2. Xbox 360: 1.37 Million (+68%)
3. Wii: 1.27 Million (+0.8%)
4. PS3: 530k (-25%)

NPD Analyst Anita Frazier observed the statistics and added that "The Xbox 360 Kinect was the best-selling accessory item in November. With one month of sales, it's the top-selling accessory item in terms of dollar sales on a year-to-date basis."

Not too shabby for a title not initially expected to outsell Modern Warfare then. Did you the readers expect it to sell in such high numbers? Any thoughts, feel free to post them down below.
