PlayStation 3 Gets More 1080p Movie Streaming
Sony in the USA has teamed up with a company called VUDU to bring more movies to the PS3. These ones are on-demand, in 1080p with Dolby 5.1.

There's the usual stuff about 'massive movie libraries', 'cinema quality' and then there's a pleasantly worded stab at the Xbox 360:

"When the VUDU application launches on November 23, 2010, the PS3 system will be the first and only system with dedicated gaming functionality to offer this service. This partnership further establishes PlayStation Network as the complete home entertainment hub, which includes the latest in gaming, movies, television shows, sports, original programming, internet browsing and social networking."

So, how much are our North American PS3-owning buddies going to pay for this? "$2 for a two night rental" that's how much.

I see VUDU refers to its content as "Eye-Popping 1080p HD Quality". As I understand it, the International Accord on PR Clichés (section 5) states that "eye-popping" is to be used solely in reference to 3D video.

Does the US have the MUBI movie service? I've not watched anything on it, but it's a really attractive app. I've yet to sync up my LoveFILM account to the PS3 app - can't bloody remember my login details - do I don't yet know what the quality is like over my rubbish broadband connection.

So, now in the UK we have;
BBC iPlayer
PSN Store movie downloads
MUBI
LoveFILM
VidZone

US:
PSN Store movie downloads
Netflix
VUDU
VidZone

Any others?

How about an audio-only service, Sony? LastFM or Spotify? Or maybe just a bloody decent music player? (or an "about time" XMB update)
