In what appears to be a classic case of pre-emptive FUD, unnamed sources have divulged additional "details" on the hotly rumoured Sony PSP2.Recent reports have suggested that the next portable from Sony will have a touch panel on the "back" of the machine, acting like a mouse trackpad. It will apparently also carry dual analogue (akin to a Playstation controller) and may even display in full HD.
Further details have trickled down from those sources who have had a close-up glimpse of the device. It is reported that the PSP will not have a UMD drive, carrying on in the vein of the PSPGo. Players will be able to store games on memory sticks or an alternative storage format to loading UMDs (Sony has yet to confirm what this will be though).
The PSP2 is also reported to carry "twice the RAM of the Xbox 360", suggesting a formidably powerful portable device for gamers to get their hands on if the model released to market carries these specs.
Please take this with a pinch of salt as Sony itself has been anything by forthcoming regarding the successor to the PSP. However, with a large recent price cut to the PSPGo and
declining sales of the PSP sales, the portable Playstation certainly does need a shot in the arm.
