Football Manager and Sports Interactive main man, Miles Jacobson, sat down with SPOnG and gave a wide-ranging and frank interview on the state of the industry, and of course the state of Football Manager 2011.The interview deals with SI's relationship with SEGA; why there are no designers working on
Football Manager 2011, and also how the UK's native and beleaguered games industry can compete.
"I think you see a lot more of the blockbuster-type games coming out of the US", he explained, "whereas a lot of stuff that comes out of the UK is better quality – maybe doesn't sell as many, but it doesn't need to. Much like the film and music industry really. Creatively, it's not dying here, but we do need help."
And on tax breaks, "From a business perspective, if someone gets ridiculous tax breaks, that means they can offer to pay higher salaries, because their costs are lower. So, they can artificially inflate things to steal people from the country, and that is a big concern."
