Iwata and the Nintendo 3DS Battery Sucking Admission
The president of Nintendo Japan, Satoru Iwata, has hinted that the battery life for the company's upcoming handheld the 3DS wont be as long-lasting as its current handheld.

In a Q&A session with investors Iwata explained that "As for the battery, it is inevitable that Nintendo 3DS will be a device which requires more frequent recharging than Nintendo DS", referring to why Nintendo will include a charging cradle with the 3DS when it is released next year.

Iwata also quipped that he and his company may be best informing their customers who enjoy several hours of 3DS gaming on the go to "Please place your Nintendo 3DS on the cradle as soon as you return home with it'."

Sounds obvious but did anyone reckon the 3DS would be such a heavy power eater compared to the DS? Will it bother you if you have to recharge the 3DS everyday, similar to a mobile phone? Any thoughts, please post them in the comments section below.

If it lasts longer than a Iphone 3Gs then they already won. As for release they better offer a lime green one this time and not 8+ months later!

Gruntier CPU/GPU = bigger power drain. No big surprise, though I guess there's still time to jam in a battery with more mAh.

Whatever, let's just hope they use the defacto standard USB charger format so at least I don't have to add yet another proprietary brick to the rat king in the cupboard

@Matthew_O'Donnell
see my iPhone lasts for ages ... so long as I don't use for games or playing podcasts as 2x speed...

@Matthew_O'Donnell

agreed a simple 2 hour session of angry birds = no battery and many missed calls!
